What is MewRank?

MewRank is a community-driven prestige index for technology companies. Instead of one editorial team deciding who’s “top,” we let the crowd decide through head-to-head votes: when you choose Company A over Company B in a battle, our system updates the rankings in real time using an ELO-style algorithm. The result is a live leaderboard that reflects how engineers and tech-minded voters actually perceive brand prestige, hiring bar, and career signal.

Why “prestige” matters

In tech, where you’ve worked often influences your next move: recruiters, investors, and hiring managers use company names as a signal. Prestige isn’t just vanity — it affects compensation, mobility, and how seriously your experience is taken. We don’t claim prestige is the only thing that matters, but we think it’s useful to have a transparent, vote-based snapshot of how the market ranks these brands.

How you can use the rankings

Use the rankings to explore which companies are seen as most prestigious, to compare brands before applying, or simply to settle debates with data. You can search and filter the list, hide “boosted” entries to see the raw community ranking, and vote in battles to shape the list yourself. We also let supporters pay $1 to “boost” a company: we add 1 to their boost value per $1. When boost value > 0 we show “Bribed & Boosted (+X ELO)” so everyone can see it. You can hide boosted entries to see the vote-only ranking.

Transparency and fairness

Ranking changes come from votes and from paid boosts ($1 = +1 to boost_value). Companies with boost_value > 0 are marked “Bribed & Boosted (+X ELO)” so you can filter them out if you want the vote-only ranking. For the full technical details on how we compute scores, see our Methodology page.
